I moan about no cover for BtVS S8 Issue 5 and now I find two variants (in addition to Jo chen's cover) at Comicbook Resources



Here's Georges Jeanty's - and I love his take on that classic recruitment poster! Plus I love Bossy!Buffy's face and you just know that her left hand is on her hip and she is *serious*.


Here's Paul Lee's take - and is it my imagination or does that look like Urkonn standing in the middle pointing at Buffy (or is it "yffuB", one of the look-alikes?)?

It does look like Urkon, also looks like the kind of demon that Giles became standing next to him.

I just read all five issues of Spike: Asylum tonight. That series blows all the other Angel and Spike series I've bought over the last year or so right out of the water. It was a good story, it sounded like Spike - and we even got to see Lorne. Very satisfying. Now I can't wait for Joss's S6!

And Brian Lynch added a character called Saje in there - yes, our very own from Whedonesque! There was a thread on .org where Brian confirmed that it wasn't a coincidence. How cool would that be to get a character named after you? Of course, you would hope it wasn't one who would then get killed! I've seen some previews for Spike: Asylum and they all look good but I am going to wait for the TPB to read it. The next one, Spike: Shadow Puppets also sounds cool and we will get to see puppet!Spike and puppet!Lorne.

If you haven't bought Angel: The Curse, DON'T! It sucks. Old Friends was also not a great series. Have you read Angel: Masks yet? I enjoyed that one. I also liked most of the one-shot Angel characters, especially Illyria and Doyle.

Sadly, in my obsession as a completist, not only did I buy both Angel: The Curse and Angel: Old Friends but I would have had to regardless of quality. The curse of completism! I did like the 3 Spike one-shots (Old Times, Old Wounds and Lost and Found). I haven't read Angel: Masks yet - that will happen sometime this weekend, I suspect.
