This movie frightened the crap out of me (but then I am an utter wuss) but was enjoyably frightening.

First check of the watch - NEVER.

Because I can't do these things spoiler-free, .

Two rules of life in a horror movie:
1) when everybody says "Everybody who goes into that house, dies", this does NOT mean "Please feel free to enter" - it means "RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!"
2) When there are some creepy weird-ass sounds coming from next door, this does NOT mean "Please feel free to investigate in the middle of the night when no lights are on" - it means "RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!"
3) (yeah, yeah, yeah, I just remembered this one) Never, ever drink milk from the container - you never know where it's been!
4) (whatever) There are no more rules - hah, got you on that one smart-ass!

Anyway, to the movie.

The good - this was fast and furious, scare-a-minute stuff and built tension really fast, exploded that tension and then started all over again ... and again ... and again ..and - well, you get my drift. Not as good a plot as The Grudge but every bit as scary - no mean feat considering you know what's coming - or do you? SMG's death was suitably creepy, both when the lights were going off as the woman came up the corridor and when she did the pavement-pancake thing.

The bad - not enough SMG (only minutes and most of that running, looking scared, with only a line or two of dialogue). Amber Tamblyn (who I think is a good actress) seemed to have decided to audition for Thunderbirds (60's Supermarionation version) and endless parade of idiots going into the house got a little tedious.
