Extremely important lessons for the 2006 Boxing Day picnic.

1. When you are eating steak off a (quite thin) paper plate that is on your knee, it is important *NOT* to cut too hard with the very sharp steak knife. Also Cajun seasoning stings when it gets into open cuts! Fortunately, no stitches were required.

2. When someone drops an ice cube down the back of your shirt, it is important to grab your dessert bowl off your knee before you stand up in surprise. Pavlova makes a wet kind of "Futhooff!" when it hits the dirt.

3. If you don't have enough patience to pick all the dirt off your pavlova, don't eat it anyway - all the grass gets stuck in your teeth and the dirt crunches between your teeth.

Nope - here's a sillier one!

Thanks to Darren for the link - this one will tell you which Greek warrior from the Iliad you are.

More converts to the cause

Got two more people hooked in to Dexter yesterday - mind you, we were watching it through his new projector so Dexter was about 3.5 metres high on the wall. Hell, it almost converted me and I've already seen all the episodes! That big and close up, that programme is even more spell-binding!

La Revue de Film #15 - Asterix et Obelix contre Cesar

I stumbled across this little gem last night and watched it with great amusement.

First check of the watch - NEVER - I was too fascinated by the whole thing to look away!

Shameless is back on

I watched Season 301 (or was it the 2005 Xmas special?) last night. Either way, I am very disappointed - this seems to have just lost its sense of humour! All the elements were there - Frank drunk, crazed and ineffectual, Debbie doing wacky things, Kev flirting (with unpredictable results), Sheila being her breathless frantic self, Lip, Ian and Carl trying to swagger and look tough, even Monica and Norma put in an appearance and yet - nothing. I just didn't find this funny. It was as if the writer had been told to put these elements in but had no idea what to do with them.

I suppose the one and only funny bit (and, when I think about it, I found this very funny) was the post-credits scene with Kev and Veronica's "lesson"!

I hope the rest of season 3 is better than this - one more of these and I'm out, I think!
