WOOHOO! It's Christmas ..... in July ..... in August

Just had our mid-year Christmas dinner - a bit late, I know but there you go. We did the whole bit - roast turkey, roast potatoes, pumpkin and parsnip, sweet potato mash, gravy, carrots, green beans and broccoli. For dessert there was marbled chocolate cheesecake ..... and strawberry tart ..... and chocolate chip roulade. Mmmmmm ..... too much food! Very sleepy now and it's not even 10 o'clock!

Must. Not. Explode.

And it was one of those with a thin layer of bitter chocolate between the filling and the tart case - just a perfect compliment to each other.

Wow! You guys are zany! What they hey? How long have you been doing that, who's idea, etc. Do you exchange presents? Sounds delicious. Nothing beats left-over turkey for sandwiches. And, oh man, hot turkey sandwiches with potatoes and gravy...lucky, lucky! :)

Quite commonly done in Australia - except that most people get their act together and have it on July 25th...

For many Northern hemisphere refugees like me, Christmas always feels a bit funny when it is 38C (100F) or higher on Christmas day - it's hard to get onto the roast dinner when all you want to do is cool off. We do the full Xmas thing - except that the presents are much smaller, if given at all. But we did the carols and all the rest of it and yes, I have roast turkey, gravy etc for lunch today. WOOHOO!

Well, that makes perfect sense! Where are you from originally?

I feel like a jerk, because while I wished you a happy birthday a month early, I completely missed your actual birthday. Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday!

By birth I'm from England but have lived in lots of countries in Asia and then lived in New Zealand for a long while before coming to Australia.

Both early and late birthday wishes are eagerly accepted (along with the on-time ones too)!
