Deadwood S3 R4 release at last!

The third season of this great series is *finally* coming out in R4 format according to Ezydvd - due on 7th June! WOOHOO (and about bloody time too)!

Sadly, still no R4 Wonderfalls, Profit or Miracles but that would be more than we could hope for - ever!

And this, just for the weird - 179-disc box set of Prisoner for a mere AUS$1599.83 (that's US$1,238.28 for those of you playing at home in the US)!

Season 3 hasn't even come out in the states. I've only seen up to season 2, which I wasn't as impressed with as the first season. Maybe because I wanted more romance between my favorite couple and it didn't happen. I don't know. I LOVED the first season, so I hope season 3 is better. Maybe part of the problem is that it became all about Swearengen and while I think that actor is fantastic, I just can't stand him because of the way he treats women. My boy is Seth Bullock.

Funny you should mention that because I remember how annoyed Willowy was that we got the S2 release about 2 or 3 months (or more?) before the US did.

Deadwood is strange for me to watch - I really enjoy but there is no character that really stands out for me. If there was one character, Seth would be the closest to that, for me too, I think. Acting generally is good on Deadwood but Ian McShane, Timothy Olyphant (of course), Robin Weigert, Powers Boothe and Paula Malcomson all stand out, as much as some of their characters repel me.

The other thing is the way violence is portrayed on Deadwood - it is just so matter-of-fact that is almost ...... umm, repugnant? I don't know (and it is not the graphic portrayal either - that doesn't even make me blink) but I watch it with a slightly queasy feeling every time - and, ironically, I mean that in a good way!

I know what you mean by the matter-of-fact portrayal of violence and mysogyny. It's because it was so matter-of-fact back then in Deadwood. But still, I do have issues with some of it. It's why I like Bullock so much. He's respectful and uses violence when necessary. He's just my kind of guy - he's the Wesley of Deadwood, and I have a weakness for any character like that (Simon on Firefly, for instance).

"the Wesley of Deadwood" - I have never though of Seth like that but you are so right!

Of course I'm right. I have a type; my taste buds don't lie.
