Movie review: Avatar

I was impressed by the movie - obviously the SFX were beyond belief but better than that, it actually had a decent story to it. OK, slightly predictable, The acting was good - I didn't even realise that Sigourney Weaver was in the movie - and the transitions between real and CGI was seamless. The ending was to be expected although the destruction the the Great Tree was surprising - somehow I thought that might be the great battle.

That there will be a sequel is obvious - and that it will be the evil corporation coming to get some more unobtainium (I think that was what it was called) is just a given. Still, I'll be there.

So glad you liked it! Ever since the 20 minutes of footage we were shown at Comic Con I've been bouncing in excitement for this, and it didn't disappoint. Sometimes a predictable story is okay when all of the rest of the elements are not. It told an important story and just so beautifully. I am so glad that it has been successful enough to warrant a sequel--actually, it will be a trilogy, I believe.

I remembered your glowing recommendation after Comic Con - you were 100% right about this movie. Funnny you should mention about the trilogy plans - as I was driving to work this morning, they were interviewing Sam Worthington on the radio and he mentioned that there was definitely a trilogy planned.
