Movie review: T4
I know, I know, I'm supposed to call it Terminator Salvation but T4 just fits with the sequence (where did the colon go ion the title, btw?). I liked this movie a lot
I thought this felt like the future that Judgement Day would bring and that world was reasonably believable. There were big bangs aplenty and well done big bangs at that, but generally well done and placed. Christian Bale again nailed the frustrated-suppressed-rage-in-a-good-man thing that he does so well and Sam Worthington did well as Marcus Wright. Other than that, pretty much every other actor was a cypher - and that's a good thing I think.
Almost every famous line was there - "I'll be back", "Come with me if you want to live" and so on but every one was placed quite well within the story so its insertion wasn't forced. The theme music (and variations) crashed and clanged out but again was used sparingly enough that it wasn't the only thing I noticed. Arnie's cameo was just enough to satisfy me and the way he (almost) died paid homage to both T1 and T2. The cut of G'n'R's music as Connor strung the rope across the road was a nice touch too.
In short it added enough to the story to be interesting in its own right whilst drawing on enough of its own mythology to feel familiar and in continuity (LALALALALA*T3 never happened*LALALALALA) with the movies.
One question remains for me - did they really do a heart transplant on Connor, in the field with perfect compatibility from a completely random donor? Or did I read that scene wrong?
