They're back!
I indulged in my annual battle with the paper wasps in the shed today. I did far better than last year when I got two very painful stings on the side of my neck that resulted in me developing a thunderous headache for about three days!
This time it was a clean sweep - I think that the fact that their nest was about twice the diameter of last year's played in my favour - even though there were a hell of a lot more wasps, at least I saw the nest this time rather than almost walk into it like I did last year.
This year's score: Me 1 Wasps 0
Aggregate score over the last two years: Me 1 Wasps 2
We'll have to call it best of three, I feel.

My technique, which has not got me stung yet.
Wait until nightfall. Sneak down with a torch and spray the buggers.
Run away.
Come back the next day. Any wasps? Do it again.
Repeat until there are no more wasps, then destroy the nest, as queens will hatch from the pupa.
All done!
