Showtime has put up the promo for the Dexter second season start
I love the bland elevator music - such a mundane background to a scene that would, on most shows, have shrieking trumpets and thundering drums. I also like the way Dexter's eyes soften with doubt and then harden instantly as the doubt goes. So very very Dexter!

They seem to have been able to keep the contradicting mood very much the same from the first season. Deep dark thoughts and topics and light playful music.
