Will Joss announce something?

Comic-con has announced Joss' panel:

"..... Joss Whedon ..... talks about picking up where the TV series [BtVS]left off, his other projects as well as future plans and possibly even a few surprises ....."

"future plans and possibly even a few surprises" - he's going to return to TV with a new original series on HBO? He's going to make those highly elusive BtVS TV movies? He's going to write a series of 10 novels continuing Serenity? He's going to announce that Goners is has been greenlit? What? I can but hope!

He's going to announce that Goners is has been greenlit?

I think that's the most likely, but he might announce he's returning to TV. It's going to happen someday. I do think it's a little soon for that though. I don't think he's ready yet.

He still has to go back to FOX doesn't he - didn't they just suspend the last year of his contract when he asked? As much as I want to see Goners, I would love to see him on TV again - that long exploration of complex themes is exactly what he does so well - when he gets a chance! I think you are right though - he doesn't talk about going back to TV with much enthusiasm just now.

His contract is with Fox the production company, not Fox the network. I believe he had a good relationship with the production company, although any show he makes with them would have to be shopped to the network first. I can just see him in the office with Fox network suits, silently begging, "Please don't pick it up, please don't pick it up" because it would probably have more of a chance if Fox turned it down.

Sorry, I did mean FOX the production co, not the network - but there is still that "shop to the network first" thing that must send shivers up and down Joss' spine!

I did get the very funny picture of Joss putting on his best smiling face and tidiest suit ('cos in my fantasies Joss is always well-dressed) and selling to the suits in some corporate cloning station board room with his finest persuasion voice whilst his internal monologue is screaming "Turn it down! Turn it down!"
