The Inside 4 & 5

The twists and turns that this series continues to take stun me every time. I didn't guess the killer in Everything Nice and then the unexpected ending was just as cool.

For Loneliest Number, it was Rebecca's use of her own trauma to manipulate others that was just breath-taking (and simultaneously heart-breaking) and then the ending was again full of so many twists and turns that I never quite knew what was coming.

The more I see of this series, the more I despair that Tim Minear will ever get a series past episode 13!

Don't think I've ever seen that series but you've certainly perked my interest. What is it?

It is Tim Minear's version of a police procedural - but like nothing you have seen before. Adam Baldwin, Peter Coyote, Katie Finneran, Rachel Nichols and Jay Harrington are the team - and what a team! No DVD release but it is *cough*available*cough* if you look around. I hate police procedurals with a vengeance and, other that Dexter, this is the only one I can bring myself to watch.

OOooh, sounds really interesting. I think I have to look around some for it :3

It's like a Silence of the Lambs take on a cop show. Very psychological. Peter Coyote is *amazing* in it. I really wish it would get released on DVD.

I forgot to add that the drafts of all the scripts are available on Tim Minear's own site (http://www.timminear.net/archives/the_inside/000115.html). Excellent reading.

Wait, you read the scripts before you watched the episodes? And the show still surprises you?

See the blessing of a very poor memory!

Haha. See, if I did that and read a big spoiler I wouldn't be able to forget it. But I did actually read the TWOP recaps of the last half of Joan of Arcadia season 2 before I got my hands on the episodes (same thing with the last season of Six Feet Under), and it's not as easy to put it all into context and you do forget a lot of stuff. I don't recommend it though.

I also found that reading the events in the script and experiencing the script as produced are very different experiences. Reading it can be very static and all kinds of tensions and subtleties are lost compared to the "live" version.
