Joss comes out swinging

In response to some fairly sharp Marti Noxon-bashing, Joss came into bat over at Whedonesque:

"How sick am I of Noxon-bashing? Enough to break my rule of silence, certainly. I've had so many people rag on her for aspects of the show I developed, or praise me for things she came up with. She's been a vital part of everything people love about Buffy since she overhauled the halloween script in season two. She's as good a story-breaker as I've ever worked with. And she's a leader.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, [poster's username deleted by me]. You are uninformed and rude. That's mine."

Whew, that's one unequivocal statement of support! I am glad I stayed out - because I may well have chimed in, not bashing (because the post Joss was responding to did cross the line, imo) but because I don't think some of Marti's writing was very good in the later parts of the series - Wrecked anyone?

I don't really have much of an opinion on Marti, I watched the show before I was really into knowing who was behind creating each episode, but I do have to say that it's pretty cool of Joss to stand up for his people like that. I don't know if many people in Hollywood would personally do that.

He's fairly generous most of the time with his comments - where it is bad, his silence is usually about an individual performance is quite pointed. He certainly stepped in here in no uncertain terms!
