I think I'm ill ...... maybe .....

Went to Perth today and

walked around for hours, being the general beast of burden for everybody's shopping bags. About two or three hours in, we stopped for a rest. When I sat down, my fingers were so sore that I looked closely at them. They were deep bluish and the tips had even turned purple. We stared walking again but my fingers didn't improve in colour no matter what I did or how often I swapped the load around. In fact, they just got darker and it started to spread to the fingers on my other hand. Peripheral circulatory damage? Flesh-eating bacteria? I kept going, wilfully manning my way through the increasing tide of panic.

We bought a bit more (and I carried a few more bags, of course) and now the rest of my fingers started to turn yellowish. Hepatitis? It was a very serious variety because the yellow spread alarmingly fast up my fingers almost into the palms. I felt a bit clammy and hot but then I was carrying a large number of bags and we had been walking for about 5 hours by now.

Eventually I asked everybody for a rest stop - and I never ever ever do that so everybody looked at me quite concerned. I was just about to ask TSB to take me to the hospital when I looked very closely at my hands and the load I was carrying. There was a large purple bag ..... with a blue logo ..... along with a paper bag with a bright orange logo ..... D'oh!

I pretended I had a stone in my shoe and then we carried on!

After five hours of walking around carrying bags, you deserved a rest. Uggh! Even two hours of shopping - unless it's Christmas and I have money to spend and a list of what I want/need to buy - is too much for me.

We only get to Perth a few times each year so we all use the time to shop for the next 3 or 4 months. I bought some cool reading material - which I'll post next.
