catalyst2 | Movie Review: Apocalypto

This was a stunning movie - the juxtaposition of extreme violence in such an otherwise serene environment was riveting. Scale, pace and drama carried right through this story and the ending was suitably down-beat. An accurate depiction of the Mayan culture? I have no idea. A piece of Catholic propaganda to show just how depraved the indigenous Central/South American cultures were before the arrival of the Christian Spaniards? I suspect that's just possible. Still a stunning movie though.
