Finally got to watch an episode last night - and it turns out to be the fourth episode, "Everything Nice", by who else but Jane Espenson!
Good episode with a twisty plot and creepy perpetrator but I can see how this didn't grab people - it is just like a dozen other procedurals (Law & Order: umpteen, NCIS and others too similar to tell apart). I know the later episodes become quite different- I downloaded all the scripts from Tim Minear's site a while ago - but it is too generic just now. I will continue watching though.
