Alien 5?

Sigourney Weaver's recovered from her post-AvP shock and would now do A5 if "..... I had a director like Ridley Scott and we had a good idea", according to this interview.

Two comments:
Q1. Is the franchise robust enough to recover and get a good script and director?
A1. Yes and no, I think, sadly.

Q2. Any new movie always revolves around Ripley's character. Is the franchise strong enough to move on and use another central character?
A2. Yes, but no it shouldn't, I think. A movie without Ripley would be like Beethoven 6 being about a chihuahua.

Oh good.... Alien isn't Ripley. Ripley is just one of the huge amounts of characters that exist in the AvP legacy universe. -_-''

I've never really seen anything on this 'verse apart from the movies and Ripley is those movies for me. If there could be another character as strong and complex as Ripley, I'd be happy - my suspicion is that we'd end up with some thuggish testosterone engorged moron and some emaciated blond stick insect with a 44DDDDDDD chest who falls over and had to be endlessly rescued by the afore-mentioned moron.

That said, I think I've been completely species-ist because I haven't even considered a non-human character as having potential as a focal character.
