So appropriate

I came across this quote today in a most unlikely book (The Poet by Michael Connelly):
"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process, he does not become a monster"
Friedrich Nietzsche

Of course, me being me, my first thought was how well that described Buffy's current position in BtVS S8 at this point in the story.

Considering that the next sentence is:
"And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.",

"this does not look good for our heroine!"

I love that quote, although I admit I got a thing for Nietzsche.

He certainly had an ear for the phrase that stuck in your mind - but some of his statements and beliefs have been interpreted in ways that have led to some harsh things happening. Whether Nietzsche meant them that way is another question.

That's what I find so interesting about him. He's influenced both comic books and homicides. It's fascinating to see what people have done with his words.

Very true - and considering his words have inspired fascists, libertarians and nihilists alike, he certainly has been interpreted in a lot of different ways.
