Descent 2 on the way?

According to Moviehole's interview with Neil Marshall, director of the first one, there will be a sequel but not with him as director. I loved the book that the movie was (loosely) based on but managed to miss Descent when it was in the movies. Must put it on my To-be-seen-very-soon-on-DVD list!

I didn't know The Descent was based on a book. I don't know how I feel about a sequel. It seems pretty redundant. I'll wait and see what they do with it, but I just hope they focus on a character journey like in the first.

Yep, this book (http://www.amazon.com/Descent-Jeff-Long/dp/051513175X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-0149108-6596732?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1188517156&sr=1-1), although from friends who have seen the movie, "based on" overstates the case, with "vaguely-associated-with-something-with-the-same-title" being a better description. If you get a chance to read the book, you would also see that there would be no point in a sequel at all - but then, with the movie so different, the storyline probably has more chance to move so it could be possible. Now, whether needed or not is a different question, of course! ;-)

The premise is very fascinating. Yeah, the movie is completely different. The only thing they took from the book was the monster.
