ah yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. As much as I hate to admit it I am really looking forward to it. Really, really, really. I'll admit there are things bugging me about the trailer but not nearly enough to draw my attention away from the fact that it is one hell of an entertaining trailer.
And I'm gonna shut up or I'll start raving on all day long.
The trailer did at least look action-packed which is a start. The Predators weren't the Chubby!Predators of AvP and the aliens were more the Wild!Aliens of the orginal movies rather than the Docile!Aliens of AvP. It's a start, at any rate.
*almost nods her head off* Oh yes! They both look far more genuine to their origins than the morphed up and tamed down versions of the first movie. I want christmas to come around already. Though I'll probably have to wait until Easter to see it in the theater. T_T
After our discussions about AvP, I looked a lot more carefully at those things and you were right (of course, how could I doubt that?) that getting both truer to type changed the feel considerably.
Hehe, yeah well there are a lot of movies out there that have that kind of quality to them. To a person that isn't too into the history and the origins of the movie it can be great - I know I have that with the Alone in the Dark movie, which apparently considering the games is among the most horrible movies to have seen the light of day in the recent years.
And I'm not sure if I wanna apologize for ruining the good parts of AvP for you or if I should say it's better knowing it's faults. But something I must admit I've liked about the second one is that they've gone back to the R rating. I honestly had no idea that the first one was PG-13 rated, but finding that out kinda explained a whole lot of stuff.
Please don't think of it as ruining it at all. I am a very uncritical viewer - I usually miss all kinds of things on first viewing. That's one of the reasons that I watch so much on DVD - at least I can watch it several times to get more of the point.
I also like getting different points of view because I think that enriches the whole viewing experience. Seeing your comments certainly got me to watch AvP a second (and third) time and each time I saw something different that changed my perception of the movie. I thank you for that.
I think you're right about the rating too - AvP was strange with its not-quite-but-almost-explicit violence. At least with an R, they can just go for it, no holds barred.
