Burn Notice 3 - Fight or Flight
I continue to like this series - three episodes, each with three very different feels to them. I was worried that this could get a bit of a one-note feel to it but it certainly hasn't done that yet.
A lot of this episode was about family and the connections we make, whether Michael's dismay at Fi contacting his mother, Michael's dislike of his father or the connections he made as he visited a piece of his own family history - the car. To finish with Sophie and Cara being able to stay as a family was a reminder to Michael of all that he lost, both as a result of his decision to join the army and also as a result of the abuse his father visited upon him. That Michael chose his father's grave to meet Akhom was no coincidence - a vital piece of the past put behind him as he picked up a vital piece of the future.
The pace of the episode was different again to either of the episodes before this - faster than the pilot but slower than Identity. Also, I have grown to like Fi more as the series has gone on - a strong independent woman but also needy at the same time - or is she? Did she get the key just so that she can keep a closer eye on Michael?
I like that we have got a start on the burn notice part of the overall arc but you know what? Even if that never gets resolved, I don't care because I am having too much fun watching the rest of the story unfold!
