It must be the apocalypse

A momentous event - according to the Economist, the number of porn sites on the internet is decreasing and net communities and chat sites will soon be as popular.

Next thing, we'll have people spelling correctly on the net!

Who'd a thunk dat?

I saw that headline the other day and was very pleased. Do you think it means people are actually getting smarter - or less sleazy people are on the Internet? I have to say, I was doing a search for something Firefly-related the other day and I couldn't believe some of things people put on the web. I felt as if I needed a shower afterwards. O.O

The article made a couple of good points:
1. perhaps there really are fewer porn sites
2. perhaps much of the porn has moved over to p2p sites
3. porn has moved onto new media - mobile phones etc

I know what you mean about the ick thing - I still remember reading an Buffy/Dawn/Joyce PWP fanfic. Squicked out on so many levels!
