I played my first game of Carcassone tonight at PAGS - great fun and I really enjoyed it. I did fairly well for most of the game but really got cleaned up in the final count. Clearly, there is some smart strategising near the end to make sure that as many incomplete elements are claimed so there should as many markers out on the board as possible near the end.

Interesting theory - the issue didn't appear until the first volcano appeared! You may be onto something there! :-)
