Very impressive first step
I just watched the first chapter of the Watchmen Motion comic - an animated version of the Watchmen graphic novel - courtesy of a friend who downloaded it from iTunes and brought it over for me to watch.
Overall, I think it's really good - it certainly seems to catch the feeling of the first pages of the GN. They did it without trying to get the animation too sophisticated so it was still focused on the story and look of the book.
The only things that didn't really work for me were two of the voices:
- I always pictured Rorschach's as quite a lot flatter and somewhat whiny not so much insightful as here and
- Laurie Juspeczyk's voice didn't work at all, just wrong.
Those two points aside, I really liked this and look forward to the next installment. I also noticed, sadly, that Alan Moore's name is removed from every aspect of the chapter, just as he insisted on.
As the first product of the whole Warner's enterprise for Watchmen, this was a good start.
