It actually comes from a comment I made to a co-worker years ago after the Xmas break.
I said "This is the first time I have worn pants in 4 weeks." Of course, I meant that I had worn shorts or jeans (as opposed to trousers or pants) over the break but the comment was taken literally.
Now, it is a common cry amongst colleagues on the last day of work before any holiday.
